After a whole year, Salvatore Ferragamo returns to the
catwalks with the presentation of his Spring-Summer 2022 collection, “A Summer
Story”, at Milan Fashion Week. The interior of the symbolic Rotonda Della
Besana has been the space chosen for the show techwadia
“During this time, we have looked to the future with
positivity and we have considered the past with perspective. We have empowered
ourselves with fresh eyes and a renewed appreciation of the fundamental formula
of the house ”they share from the Italian house in a statement.
This has resulted in a collection that, inspired by the
simplicity of summer afternoons and spending quality time with those around us,
reconnects with the essence of the house to present its most current version on
the catwalk.
“Our founder combined intrepid invention and unparalleled
craftsmanship to create beautiful shoes that aroused joy and that, along the
way, became synonymous worldwide with Italian craftsmanship and design. This
special season we reconnect with that source of the house to present a
collection that is inspired by the spectrum of beauty and recontextualizes it
for a new time: for the now. "
The location of the parade:
With the parade, the complex of Baroque buildings that shape
the historic Rotonda della Besana is transformed into a space to connect with
the world around us and reflect on our role in it. Its walls and columns were
dressed with mirrors that allowed models and guests to have a peripheral view
of the show.
These mirrors have also been used as a symbolic object
related to the concept of reflection, an allegory that the firm links to
footwear: “Of all the objects that are worn, the shoe is the one that is most
easily and often appreciated with our own eyes on our own body: shoes allow us
to see ourselves ”.
The collection has been designed "for the long days of
summer, in which the afternoon is mixed with twilight", a feeling that
they have transmitted with the lighting and the stage of the parade.
Collection features:
Aesthetically, the silhouettes are inspired by the cinema of
the 60s and 70s and the sensually sober liberation, as well as the
functionality of work clothes.
A light, bright and joyful collection, colored in natural
tones accented by oversaturated details, in which strikingly colored knits and sweaters,
sometimes with fringes, are worn freely. Tactile and textured fabrics combine
cotton and silk, wool and linen, and hemp.
Decoratively, the brand has dived into its archives and,
taking inspiration from Ferragamo heritage, has revived in collaboration with
the Parisian artist Julien Colombier a Ferragamo floral scarf from the 70s.
The shoes:
Ferragamo's iconic Vara and Varina have been rescued from
the trunk of memories and renewed for Spring-Summer 2022 in new colors and
materials such as rattan.
